IMPACT Community Action Partnership
IMPACT is a local organization that has been serving Boone County low-income residents since 1964. Though the name has changed from Red Rock Area Community Action Programs through the merger with local sister agency Des Moines Community Action Agency, we still provide the same excellent programs that help provide much needed basic services for our community. Our mission has and continues to be: working towards eliminating poverty, through empowering vulnerable populations building collaborations, and advocating for social change.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHeap) - provides a single payment towards winter heating bills to eligible households. Approval for the program establishes protection against disconnect between November and April.
Food Pantry- the client choice pantry provides a 4-5 days’ supply of non-perishable food items and donated fresh produce, when available. Clients can utilize the pantry once a calendar month..
Personal Pantry- provides personal care items such as shampoo, soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, toilet paper, laundry soup, hand soup, and many other items. Clients can utilize the personal pantry once a calendar month. Total number of personal pantries given in Fiscal Year 2015 was 692 personal pantries.
Bakery Items - provides fresh bakery goods available to clients almost daily. This is all thanks to our partnership with the Boone HyVee.
Friday Meal Bags- provides households with a meal bag on Fridays to help with food over the weekends. This is all thanks to our partnership with the Boone HyVee.
Rent/Utility Assistance- depending on the availability of funds and a client’s particular circumstance, IMPACT may be able to assist with a disconnect notice, to reconnect utility services, past due rent or rental deposits.

Salvation Army
Provides financial assistance for evictions and utility shut offs, food pantry, payee program, emergency disaster services. Referrals to other agencies and services, along with pastoral care for the community.

VFW Post 817 & Auxiliary
We set out to serve the veterans of this country and our communities as a testament to the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform. Our Relief Funds are available to help Boone County Veterans and families in times of need on a hand-up basis.
